'Tron Legacy' starring Jeff Bridges - trailer review

Tron Legacy - Trailer Directed by: Joseph Kosinski Starring: Garrett Hedlund, Jeff Bridges, Bruce Boxleitner Rating: NR Release Date: December 17, 2010

TRAILER SCORE: 9/10

MY THOUGHTS: One of the things that's most impressive about this trailer is that its a sequel to a movie 28 years after the fact, yet it still seems relevant. I can't tell you how upset I was with movies like Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull because they're cash cows and can't even pretend to be anything else. Tron legacy looks like a movie I'd still want to see and when I think about it, it might be better that it's taken this time because the improvement in special effects (although Tron was impressive for its time) are definitely noticeable. For folks looking forward to seeing this, but haven't checked out Tron, this trailer does an excellent job of catching you up to speed. It doesn't give the whole story, but enough so that you have an idea of what's going on. But like I said before, one of the real reasons to watch this trailer is the special effects that are showcased even in the trailer. I'm expecting a lot from this movie, in regards to effects and story, but this trailer is evidence that it doesn't seem like it'll disappoint on a visual level. That's so much of what this trailer is though. There are bits and pieces of story (although it doesn't seem too difficult to piece together) but at its heart, this is almost entirely visual, making it a must see in theaters, for me at least.
