'Little Fockers' starring Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro - trailer review

Little Fockers Directed by: Paul Weitz Starring: Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, Barbara Streisand Rating: NR Release Date: December 22, 2010

TRAILER SCORE: 5/10

MY THOUGHTS: To be fair, I was never a Meet the Parents or even really a Ben Stiller fan. But if I was before? Well, this never-ending string of sequels would certainly put me off. It's true, if I had to pick a favorite, I'd probably go with Meet the Fockers but that's not saying much. The problem with this trailer is that there isn't a whole lot of meat to it. There isn't enough for me to make it memorable. This may be some people's taste in humor, but vaguely homo-erotic banter between De Niro and Stiller isn't really my idea of a good time. That's one of the problems with this Little Fockers trailer is, you better be in it for Stiller or De Niro because they try to sell their all-star cast while giving them virtually no screen time. Plus, some of these additions to the "all-star cast" aren't exactly welcome ones, if you ask me. Jessica Alba? Seriously? Did we learn nothing from Good Luck Chuck? I'm anxious to see some of the others since it's been a while since Laura Dern or Harvey Keitel have done comedy so curiosity may get the better of me here. Still, the person I'm most excited for is Teri Polo or Rebecca Wells for all you Sports Night fans like myself. Sadly, she gets the least time of all. It's a thankless job playing the straight woman to Ben Stiller's antics, but she anchors the film for me. Hopefully she gets more credit, but for now, this trailer leaves something to be desired.
