'Let Me In' starring Chloe Moretz - international trailer review

Let Me In- International Trailer Directed by: Matt Reeves Starring: Kodi Smit-McPhee, Chloe Moretz, Richard Jenkins Rating: NR Release Date: October 1, 2010

TRAILER SCORE: 5/10

MY THOUGHTS: It appears that the injustice of the poor subtitles on the Let the Right One In wasn't injustice enough. As is the fashion with American movies, some hot shot director has stolen yet another foreign film (The Orphanage anyone?) to try to make it his own. The problem is, I've seen the original and I can't shake that when watching this trailer. Let the Right One In was a thing of beauty and subtlety. It was the closest we've come to poetry in motion in a long while. While this film boasts a cast that I'm interested in, it doesn't look like that's enough. Chloe Moretz (Hit Girl from Kick-Ass) is the one to watch in all this. Her already fairly impressive body of work is getting bigger and bigger every month it seems and in the line of child actors, that's saying a lot. The issue with this film isn't with its actors and actresses, but rather, the route that they've taken this movie. It's already much more action-driven than the original and not to sound like a snob but if you're using the phrase "from the director of Cloverfield" as a selling tool then we're not in very good shape. I'm still hoping for the best, but given the direction this trailer is headed in, I'm not expecting much. Hell, I may just stay home and watch the original movie on opening night, at least I know it's a sure thing.
