'Danny Trejo’s Vengeance' - starring Danny Trejo & Jason Mewes - trailer review
Danny Trejo’s Vengeance Directed by: Gil Medina Starring: Danny Trejo, Jason Mewes, Donal Logue Rating: NR Release Date: November 11, 2010
TRAILER SCORE: 3/10
MY THOUGHTS: I honestly spent the majority of this trailer wondering if this was a joke. After wasting two and a half minutes of my life on it, I can’t honestly say that I’m any closer to an answer. There’s a purposeful grindhouse feel to it which may attract fans of Tarantino and Roriguez’s collaboration Grindhouse or even fans of the upcoming Rodriguez flick Machete. The thing that those movies have that Vengeance doesn’t is a sense of itself. I can’t tell if it’s making fun of this type of movie or if the aesthetic is intentional, which doesn’t do wonders for me. Trejo’s always been one of those actors you can count on for some trashy fun, but even then, we all have our limits. For me, this would probably be it. Rarely do I let the budget of a movie affect the way I view it, but with a shoe string budget like this and a couple of Final Cut Pro burn marks thrown in to make it look “edgy,” it’s impossible not to. Unless they come out with a better trailer, I’m sticking this flick on my “must be bored and/or drunk to watch” list.
