'DisneyNature's African Cats' starring lions, tigers - trailer review
DisneyNature's African Cats Directed by: Alastair Fothergill Starring: Um… cats? Rating: NR Release Date: April 22, 2011
TRAILER SCORE: 8/10
MY THOUGHTS: We all know I’m not giving this one an 8 out of 10 for its story. Sure, it sounds cute and engaging enough to keep the kids busy for a solid 90 minutes or so, that can’t be denied. But the real reason I rated it so high? I’ll be honest with you and mainly say it’s because they’re just so damn cute. I’ve always been a fan of animals and the zoos so a chance to see animals in their natural habitat is always a welcome distraction from my own life. After all, nothing like a nature doc to make you appreciate the ease of your own life. More than the cute factor though, the movie itself looks heartwarming and as part of DisneyNature's series, it’s bound to be visually impressive. So will it change your life? Probably not. Is it going to be the next March of the Penguins? There’s always a chance, but story doesn’t seem high on their list of priorities. I think they were going for the “awww” market and that’s what they got from me at least. If the trailer indicates anything, this is going to be a must-see on the big screen for fans of exotic scenery and nature docs.
