MY THOUGHTS: I am not afraid to admit that I have seen everything "Sex and the City" has offered. The first seasons were the best, but I hung on with Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda through them all. When you take a TV series to the big screen to continue the story, there's a certain expectation. You need to take us to new places with these characters. I don't mean locations, I mean emotional journeys. The first Sex and the City film failed in that attempt. It took almost every character, created chaos to make their journey (typically relationship) falter. For example, Miranda and Steve were together when the series ended, they break up for a little bit of time in the movie, and then by the end, they're right back to where they were at the end of the series.
It looks like Sex and the City 2 is going to run into some of the same problems. Carrie is going to once again question her relationship with Big? Really? Not only that, it's with Aidan. Hasn't this poor guy been through enough? At least Charlotte and Miranda will be dealing with motherhood, for a couple of seconds. Here's the bigger mistake ... Abu Dhabi. You do realize the title includes "in the City," right? Apparently men will faun over them in a foreign country, and they oddly get applauded on stage. Yes, I'll be seeing this film, I just hope there are more moments like talking about being in between hot sex and having a baby. And I only saw two seconds of Steve in the trailer, that better not be the case in the film.
