MY THOUGHTS: Looks like animation fans are going to have their hands full this year. In the same vein as Megamind this movie follows a super villain who may not be cut out for the job. I’ll admit that there are a few laughs in this trailer, but in general, it’s the voice actors that bring the comedy, not so much what I’m seeing on screen. While the animation is by no means bad, there’s not really a whole lot to make it stick out in my mind. Even the plot faces this problem. How many times have we seen this story of unlikely caretaker becomes a surrogate to the children he never thought he’d have? It’s like an animated Raising Helen (if you don’t know what I’m talking about, count yourself lucky). Still, I can’t help but hope for a surprise in the formula or a Ratatouille type ending where reality finds it’s place in the cartoon world. Still, from the looks of it, I wouldn’t expect something like that, which may be their point. Even after watching this trailer, I can’t help but not expect much of anything from this one, except maybe an enjoyable rental.
