'Tron Legacy' starring Jeff Bridges - trailer review
Tron Legacy Directed by: Joseph Kosinski Starring: Garrett Hedlund, Jeff Bridges, Bruce Boxleitner Rating: NR Release Date: December 17, 2010
TRAILER SCORE: 7/10
MY THOUGHTS:More than anything else, this is nostalgia for me. Sure, I was -5 when the first one came out, but that’s the thing about being the youngest. Anyway, it’s nice to see that now Oscar winner Jeff Bridges is returning to the sequel. Honestly, there isn’t too much to be said about the trailer, which is surprisingly story heavy for what I’m expecting to be more blockbuster material than anything else. If you’re looking for an idea of the visuals and want to skip through all the dramatic pacing, it doesn’t really pick up until about 1:16 and even then the action is sparse. Truth be told, this trailer is more geared for younger audiences who may not have seen the first one, but have the disposable income Disney wants them to spend on seeing the sequel. It’s pretty transparent, but it seems like Disney’s pretty confident that their strategy will work, because they’re releasing a trailer this early for a Dec. 17 release. Sure it’s an obvious ploy but that doesn’t mean that the trailer isn’t fun. The visuals are beautiful and I expect them to be even more so in 3-D. The redeeming quality is it picks up a lot towards the end, which keeps my high hopes for this movie alive.
