Kick-Ass - Red Band trailer review
Kick-Ass – Red Band Trailer Directed by: Matthew Vaughan Starring: Nicolas Cage, Aaron Johnson, Lyndsey Fonseca Rating: R Release Date: April 16, 2010
TRAILER SCORE: 7/10
MY THOUGHTS: It seems a popular time to be a superhero. Woody Harrelson stars in Defendor just as Johnson tackles the titular role in Kick-Ass. The red band trailer showcases a decent amount of violence and swearing, but they contribute to some of the gags. My main fear is that with the red band trailer, the movie has showcased just about all it has to offer. It’s a strong premise, but in between gross-out teen comedy and hardcore superhero parody, well, there doesn’t seem to be much there. Maybe it’s the editing of the trailer but the changes between the two are very sudden and that’s something that could definitely carry over into the movie. Sadly, the most exciting part for me is Hit-Girl, played by Chloe Moretz who you may recognize from (500) Days of Summer. She leaves a lasting impression in this trailer (when you see it, you’ll know what I mean) that made the whole thing worthwhile for me. Superbad alum Christopher Mintz-Plasse also makes an appearance in the trailer that could make this movie worthwhile. The movie has potential, but this trailer doesn’t do enough to showcase it. More than likely, it’s a renter or a guilty please.
