PLOT (courtesy of Warner Bros.): Based on Alexis Nolent's French graphic novel, "Du Plomb Dans La Tete," Bullet to the Head tells the story of a New Orleans hit man (Stallone) and a DC cop (Kang) who form an unlikely alliance to bring down the killers of their respective partners.
MOVIE:
Director Walter Hill has a great past with 48 Hours, The Warriors, and also the insane Brewster's Millions. Even Hill would agree that you should spend more time with those, than this film, but there are still some things to enjoy. Stallone cares. Add that with the fact that this character is clearly more developed than what we have seen the The Expendables movies, and it's not a bad rental at all. Sure, I have a few complaints, mainly Bulleit Bourbon ... everyone carries it. You know this, right? Apparently the movie doesn't. It serves the purpose of James Bonomo (Stallone) bringing up the word "bullet," even if it is spelled differently. Thankfully, someone dies with the bullet ... I'll let you figure out where it ends up. Dialogue like, "Give him a Band Aid and a Blow Pop," moves the relationship between hit man and cop right along. It took me a second to place him, but Momoa makes a better bad guy than hero (as we saw with the reboot that went nowhere, Conan the Barbarian). Bullet to the Head is exactly what you hope for from a straight-to-DVD flick. The problem is it played in theaters before this. More good news, you probably didn't see it.
MOVIE SCORE: 6/10
EXTRAS Bullet to the Head: Mayhem Inc.: Get ripped with Sylvester Stallone as he blasts his way through gun training and action choreography as he preps for a bone-crushing axe fight.
