TSR's complete Film Review Database

In a surprising turn of events, The Help has managed to win it again. After a second place start, the Emma Stone pic beats out newcomers in an alarmingly slow weekend.

Colombiana was the forerunner in the new releases. There hasn't been a lot of buzz about this one, but the PG-13 rating couldn't have hurt in pulling audiences in this weekend.

Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, which has taken a critical beating even from our own Jeff Bayer, pulled into third place in the box office. Evidently Katie Holmes being terrorized doesn't hold as much allure to most people as it does for me...

Rise of the Planet of the Apes stayed strong this weekend, coming into fourth place (less than ideal) in its fourth weekend of release. Considering the shelf life of most movies these days, that's something to celebrate.

Finally, Our Idiot Brother proved to be the indie movie that could. Despite an A-list cast of comedic favorites and a minimal budget, the Sundance favorite managed to round out the top five in its debut weekend.

Calhoun Kersten vs. Aaron Ruffcorn

Each weekend Kersten and Ruffcorn go head to head in the Box Office Challenge, trying to pick the correct Number One film in America and how much money it will make.

This weekend ... Draw!

Season record: 7-8

Thoughts by TSR: Seriously... we should probably be better at this, right?
