Box Office Challenge: 'Captain America,' 'Friends with Benefits' and 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2'
Box Office Challenge
What movie will be No. 1 at the box office?
Hitting the screens this weekend ...
Captain America: The First Avenger Friends with Benefits
TSR's complete Film Review Database
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is poised to dominate once again, and if you ask me, Paramount's choice of release date for Captain America: The First Avenger was a fairly poor one.
The First Avenger's leading man may share in the glorious first name of Chris, but Mr. Evans is no Hemsworth, not by a long shot. I see Captain America failing to please in the ways of Thor, and thusly, I see Marvel's weekend offering floundering at the box office (big time). It's got way too much competition -- heck, even Transformers: DOTM is still selling a lot of tickets. Also, I'd like to add: Chris Evans can't be two Marvel characters, that's just dumb. He lost me at "Flame on!"
Moving on...
Friends with Benefits looks to be a rehash of a rehash, and I predict it'll have a relatively small weekend take as well. The premise is all too familiar, and comes with an even more docile cast than No Strings Attached. I still have some faith in the film itself though, as director Will Gluck’s previous entry was the excellent Easy A. Still, Gluck didn’t write Easy A, and that’s what was great about that film, the writing (that and, of course, the lovely Emma Stone). Two new relatively untested writers penned Friends with Benefits – so yeah, I’m right back to doubting this film. At the end of the day, it could be a good film, but I'm betting it'll be a lightweight at the box office either way.
So in conclusion...if anyone out there thinks that either of these newcomers will even come close to Harry Potter's weekend take, you're having a laugh.

We’ll take a look at the box office and see if we can’t nail the Number 1 film in the U.S. Whoever is closest, wins. But really, if they aren't within $2 million, it's not very impressive.
It’s harder than you think. If you don’t believe, let’s see what your answers are.
