Growing tired of reading the sentence "this weekend, the final chapter of the Harry Potter franchise will...???"
Well, I'm tired of typing it.
We’ve been following these spell-casters around now for just over a decade, and it’s hard to believe that their journey is coming to a close. It’s been interesting to see Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint grow up on screen. I’ve personally found these films to be more and more palatable as the kids have moved on through the years, and have therefore found each film in the series to be better than the last. I hope this final installment continues that trend, and I imagine such will be the case. Either way, it's going to make an absolute killing at the box office this weekend. But I'm repeating myself, aren't I?
While Harry, Ron, and Hermione are busy wrapping up their quest to find and destroy Voldemort’s three remaining Horcruxes, meanwhile, next door, Winnie the Pooh will be busy entertaining teething babies and the like.
There’s just no room for competition this coming weekend. Winnie the Pooh? What are they thinking releasing that on the same day? Perhaps it’s true, perhaps this Potter film will be too dark for young children? I dunno though, still seems daft to release a film on the same day as the final Potter film. Even Transformers: Dark of the Moon will bow down before Potter.
I'll even be so bold as to predict that The Dark Knight's opening weekend record (of $158 million) is in danger of demise. Each week Calhoun Kersten and Aaron Ruffcorn go head to head in a Box Office Challenge. Who will win? Maybe you. Aaron will be back Monday with the Box Office Review. Tune in to find out who wins.
We’ll take a look at the box office and see if we can’t nail the Number 1 film in the U.S. Whoever is closest, wins. But really, if they aren't within $2 million, it's not very impressive.
It’s harder than you think. If you don’t believe, let’s see what your answers are.
