Box Office Challenge: 'Super 8' 'Judy Moody' and 'Beginners'

Box Office Challenge

What movie will be No. 1 at the box office?

Hitting the screens this weekend ...

Judy Moody and the NOT Bummer Summer Super 8 Beginners

TSR's complete Film Review Database

Summer blockbuster season is finally kicking off. What does that mean for us here at TSR and you folks at home? Well, besides plenty of explosions, it means that things might finally get interesting on our Box Office Challenge.

This weekend features a little bit of everything. You've got the big-budget mystery project, Super 8, the family friendly fare with Judy Moody and for the arthouse crowd, Beginners is absolutely not to be missed.

The question remains, which one of these newcomers will be taking home first place this weekend? It doesn't seem like much of a competition to be honest. Super 8 has the big-budget director and producer, plus taking up screens at the IMAX certainly won't hurt its numbers.

Super 8 is practically guaranteed to kick off the summer in a big way, with Judy Moody bringing out the family crowd and Beginners, unfortunately, probably serving a very limited crowd. Still, it's just a guess. Until Sunday, it's pretty much anyone's game. What do you think?

Each week Calhoun Kersten and Aaron Ruffcorn go head to head in a Box Office Challenge. Who will win? Maybe you. Aaron will be back Monday with the Box Office Review. Tune in to find out who wins.

We’ll take a look at the box office and see if we can’t nail the Number 1 film in the U.S. Whoever is closet, wins. But really, if they aren't within $2 million, it's not very impressive.

It’s harder than you think. If you don’t believe, let’s see what your answers are.

Calhoun Kersten's prediction for the weekend of June 10 - 12 …

1. Super 8 ($75 Million)

Aaron Ruffcorn's prediction for the weekend of June 10 - 12 …

1. Super 8 ($50 Million)

So what are your guess for the Number 1 movie at the box office this weekend?
