Hitting the screens this weekend ...

I Am Number Four Unknown Big Momma's House: Like Father, Like Son

TSR's complete Film Review Database

This weekend features a couple of newcomers, but it still could make a for a relatively tame weekend considering the three newcomers seem to be trying to corner their own niche market.

I Am Number Four is the biggest lowest common denominator film of the weekend, so my guess is that will be claiming the number one spot, especially grabbing the teens that still have disposable income to spend on movies.

Unknown may surprise this weekend. The movie looks entirely forgettable for me, but with the intensity that Liam Neeson brought to Taken this could be a fun night out at the movies.

Just Go With It still has that competitive edge when it comes to the rom-com lovers, but after taking number one by a narrow margin, its chances at snagging the coveted spot again are rare to say the least.

Big Momma's House: Like Father Like Son, besides having one of the most obnoxiously long titles to type out, seems like its limited appeal might hurt its opening weekend. The real question on my mind is, did anybody even see the second one? Allen excluded.

Finally, Gnomeo and Juliet might just have the gimmick to pull in last place. 3-D money never hurts and considering how few family-friendly options are out there, an animated movie could end up doing pretty well for itself.

Each week we’ll take a look at the box office and see if we can’t nail the Top 5 films (in correct order). Also guess how many millions the #1 movie will make.

It’s harder than you think. If you don’t believe, let’s see what your answers are.

My prediction for the weekend of Feb. 18 - 20 …

1. I Am Number Four ($25 million)

2. Unknown

3. Just Go With It

4. Big Momma's House: Like Father, Like Son

5. Gnomeo and Juliet

So what are your Top 5 at the box office this weekend?
