We've got a couple of new releases (or at least wide releases) this January weekend, but considering the buzz surrounding both, it's not too clear if we'll even end up seeing them on this week's top five.
That means it's up to last weekend's heavy hitters to take us through the top five, with True Grit hopefully taking its rightful place at number one this weekend. Maybe it's just wishful thinking, but after the close call last weekend, it's anyone's game.
My guess is that Little Fockers will be falling into second place. You can only expect people to make Ben Stiller and a myriad of ED and poop jokes number one at the box office for so long.
TRON: Legacy doesn't show any signs of stopping despite the mediocre reviews. It's the #D and IMAX ticket prices that seem to be keeping this one alive, but how much longer can this movie last on box office life support?
Season of the Witch may make an appearance at number four, but truth be told, that's being a little optimistic. Given Nicolas Cage's box office track record, it's hard to have a little faith but everybody seems to love a little escapism so maybe this one will sneak in to the top five.
Finally, I have a feeling that Yogi Bear is about to become an endangered species. After a couple weeks pulling in last, this bear may be on his last leg. Still, I give him one last weekend before he's gone.
Each week we’ll take a look at the box office and see if we can’t nail the Top 5 films (in correct order). Also guess how many millions the #1 movie will make.
It’s harder than you think. If you don’t believe, let’s see what your answers are.
My prediction for the weekend of (insert month and date such as Oct. 1-3) …
1. True Grit (enter $ estimate only for the #1 movie)
2. Little Fockers
3. TRON: Legacy
4. Season of the Witch
5. Yogi Bear
So what are your Top 5 at the box office this weekend?
