Box Office Challenge

Hitting the screens this weekend ...

Megamind 3D Due Date For Colored Girls Fair Game (limited)

TSR's complete Film Review Database

November starts and bam! So do the big movies. Will Ferrell and Brad Pitt play evil and good in Megamind 3D. There's a good chance this will be the winner of the box office this week. This is especially due to the superpower of the third dimension. It means more money, plus lets not forget about all the parents bringing their kids along.

If director Todd Phillips has his way, you'll all remember how much you loved The Hangover and thus, go see his new film Due Date starring Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis. Will magic strike twice with this R-rated comedy? Is Phillips plus Galifianakis a guaranteed hit? Only time will tell.

Let's not forget the power of Tyler Perry. He directed For Colored Girls which sports a huge cast of famous African American faces including Whoopi Goldberg and Janet Jackson. Here's a little background information about the film ... there was an advanced screening for critics in Chicago, but not in Portland or Seattle.

In limited release is the "based on a true story" of Valerie Plame. Naomi Watts and Sean Penn join director Doug Liman in this story about Plame being outed as a CIA operative and exactly what went wrong while America attempted to invade Iraq.

Last week's Top 5 at the box office

1. Saw 3D 2. Paranormal Activity 2 3. Red 4. Jackass 3D 5. Hereafter

Each week we’ll take a look at the box office and see if we can’t nail the Top 5 films (in correct order). Also guess how many millions the #1 movie will make.

It’s harder than you think. If you don’t believe, let’s see what your answers are.

My prediction for the weekend of November 5-7 …

1. Megamind 3D ($43 million)

2. Due Date

3. For Colored Girls

4. Red

5. Saw 3D

So what are your Top 5 at the box office this weekend?
