This week has quite a few new releases, some wide and some limited. The real question on everyone’s mind (or at least mine) is, what will all these new releases do for the box office? I could easily see each one of them edging the others out to make for a tight race.
Personally, I see the number one spot going to the visually stunning Legends of the Guardians. Considering Zack Snyder’s box office track record, it’s not hard to imagine him cleaning up again this weekend with his first kid-friendly effort.
Then again, Shia LaBeouf has never been one to shy away from a fight. Still, considering the poor state of the economy, I’m imagining it might be hard to get people into a movie about how poor the economy is, but that could just be me.
Don’t expect The Town to go far after it’s stellar opening weekend. I’m guessing rave reviews will keep this one on top for a while, but it’ll have to fight for it with this onslaught of new releases.
Kristen Bell and company couldn’t have picked a worse weekend for You Again. Despite a big name cast, it may have some difficulty keeping up with some of the other fare, so I can’t really see it moving too high on the list.
Finally, Easy A still has a shot at the top five and I bet it’ll round out the list for the weekend.
Each week we’ll take a look at the box office and see if we can’t nail the Top 5 films (in correct order).
It’s harder than you think. If you don’t believe, let’s see what your answers are.
My prediction for the weekend of September 17 - 19 …
1. Legends of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole
2. Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps
3. The Town
4. You Again
5. Easy A
So what are your Top 5 at the box office this weekend?
