Box Office Preview - Feb. 19 - 'Shutter Island' is coming

Hitting the screens this week … Shutter Island Bayer's TSR - 9/10 (trailer below)

That's it. That's the list. Looks like a bleak week for movies, but that’s good news for Martin Scorsese and Shutter Island. Not only is it the only big release this week, but with talent like Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio? Forget about it. If duo’s previous collaborations are any indication of this movie’s success, this one should be a winner.

Avatar seems to be on its way out, but after its raging success, you can’t expect it to hold a top 5 spot forever.

I predict that Percy Jackson is here to stay for a while. It wasn’t quite the runaway success studios were hoping for in its first weekend, but now with and it’s bevy of A-Listers (as well as the holiday) on its way out, it’s someone else’s turn to shine.

Finally, The Wolfman suffered countless release delays and upon it’s opening last week, received mediocre reviews and so-so audience attention. Looks like this movie won’t transform into the breakaway blockbuster Universal had been hoping for.

Each week we’ll take a look at the box office and see if we can’t nail the Top 5 films (in correct order).

It’s harder than you think. If you don’t believe, let’s see what your answers are.

My prediction for the weekend of Feb. 19-21

1. Shutter Island

2. Percy Jackson & the Olympians: the Lightning Thief

3. Valentine’s Day

4. The Wolfman

5. Avatar

So what are your Top 5 at the box office this weekend?
