Thoughts by TSR: While I was a big fan of Rise of the Planet of the Apes, one aspect I found less than impressive was the performance by James Franco. Jason Clarke is sure to be a step up. He is the one aspect of Zero Dark Thirty that I unabashedly love, so this news has me very excited. We don’t know who he will play in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, but I’m just thrilled an actor of his caliber is starring. And after he and the monkeys in Zero Dark Thirty formed a nice bond, I’m hopeful that the ape uprising will take it easy on the guy.

As THR says, they are being coy about plot details. What we do know is that it will be set 15 years after Rise of the Planet of the Apes and will focus on both a group of human scientists trying to survive and Caesar’s struggle to “maintain dominance over his kingdom.” Between Matt Reeves directing, Andy Serkis returning to play Caesar, and Jason Clarke being cast, I’m definitely looking forward to Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. They are targeting a spring shoot, so I’ll be anxiously awaiting the first look.
