Thoughts by TSR: Have you been kicking yourself for missing out on the opportunity to see Michael Bay’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon when it was playing at your local IMAX? Well, you’re in luck! Paramount and IMAX are re-releasing the billion-dollar grosser in 246 domestic locations for a two week run beginning on August 26. It will be sharing screens with two other films currently playing in IMAX, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 and Final Destination 5. The second run will close in time for Steven Soderbergh’s Contagion, which opens on September 9.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon has grossed over $1 billion worldwide, nearly $60 million of which came courtesy IMAX theaters. I didn’t contribute to the latter figure, but I did give my ten dollars to see it in 3D. I’m not a fan of 3D at all, but I will admit this film utilized the format better than most. So if you haven’t seen Transformers: Dark of the Moon yet, and you’re in the mood for some strong visuals coupled with loads of robot destruction, I’d recommend heading out to local your IMAX to check it out.
