News: The new Superman movie, which is titled Man of Steel, has been moved from a December 2012 release date to a new opening of June 14, 2013. The film directed by Zack Snyder and produced by Christopher Nolan leaves space for other big December releases like Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained, Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Gore Verbinski's The Lone Ranger, and Ang Lee's Life of Pi.

Thoughts by TSR: Six. Months.

Sure, six months may not feel a big deal now, since December 2012 seems non-existent in our immediate schedules, and the same can be said even more June 2013. Heck, the movie I'm heavily anticipating here hasn't even started filming yet, so technically there's little even documented to be excited about. There's two whole award seasons before Man of Steel now, which is like five years in movie time.

But I can guarantee we're going to feel those six months once December 2012 wraps up its onslaught of blockbusters and potential Oscar-grabbers. We're going to be demanding the new Superman movie that was once promised to us at that time, and all we're going to get around that season is a damn Super Bowl preview (I suspect, at least). Once all of the aforementioned films are out of our system, we'll be left in the cold of winter, waiting for the warm weather to bring us great popcorn fare, and just like it did in what feels like many summers ago, a new Superman. And even then, we'll have to wait till June.
