News: If a lawsuit between Mike Tyson's tattoo artist and Warner Brothers isn't resolved before The Hangover Part II comes out on DVD in December, Stu's (Ed Helms) tattoo might be digitally replaced.

Thoughts by TSR: This has got to be one of the crazier lawsuits in recent Hollywood history. Thankfully, this disagreement about copyright infringement didn't stop the movie's planned release, so we were able to get all Hangover II curiosities out of our system (and replaced with a overall disappointment). Yet the struggle continues, with a tattoo artist claiming he deserves money for the ink-etching that is on Ed Helms' face for a large chunk of the film, versus a studio that is working overtime to prevent such a payday. Now, Warner Bros. is saying they'll even replace the tattoo with something else, frame by frame. I hope someone interviews the guy/Warner Bros. intern slave behind that project.
It will be pretty bizarre if this digital replacement does occur. This isn't some "Han Shot First" type of re-editing fracas, but it's replacing a huge joke in the movie with something else different entirely. Will the creators attempt to give a new tattoo that offers a different kind of joke? I wonder if Warner Bros. also sees this opportunity as a chance to maybe ring in some new viewers on the curiosity alone. They're getting a unique chance to toy with and re-work one of their anchor jokes in the script. If only that could somehow happen with nearly everything else in that bad movie, which is now the highest grossing comedy ever.
