Anthony Hopkins joins Kenneth Branagh's Thor

Yes, this sounds more like a Shakespeare flick, than a superhero movie based on Kenneth Branagh and Anthony Hopkins being involved, but this is Thor. Variety says the Marvel Studios film just added Hopkins to the cast. Production begins in January. Perform Thor we'll see Hopkins in Wolfman with Benicio Del Toro in February.

Hopkins will play Odin, the father of Thor and Loki. Chris Hemsworth is playing Thor, and Tom Hiddleston plays Loki.

Natalie Portman is also set to play Thor's love interest, Jane Foster.

It's written by Mark Protosevich and Zack Stentz.

Thor is about a man who has a Norse god alter ego, who carries a big hammer.

Paramount Pictures will release the film on May 20, 2011.
