Star Trek's Chris Pine to be the next Jack Ryan?
Star Trek lead actor Chris Pine is considering commandeering another franchise from Paramount - one that was previously led by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, and most recently Ben Affleck. According to Variety, the actor who played the newest version of James T. Kirk is in negotiations to be the next Jack Ryan in a series that has already spanned four films (The Hunt For Red October, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger, and The Sum of All Fears).
He is also in talks to work with Disturbia director D.J Caruso on a new project titled The Art of Making Money, which is set to start shooting early next year.
The next Jack Ryan film is in development, with producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mace Neufeld working on an original script by Hossein Amini, who used his original concept (the new project will not use a Tom Clancy novel directly, apparently).
At the time nothing is solidified, but Pine is likely to hop on board as this film starts to come together. It is uncertain whether this fifth Ryan film would shoot before or after a second Star Trek film.
Currently, Pine is starring in Unstoppable, a thriller directed by Tony Scott that stars Denzel Washington.
