Harrison Ford's Extraordinary Measures opens January 22, 2010
When's the last time Harrison Ford has had a hit. I say Indiana Jones doesn't count because that's more of a branding or event than actually getting to see Ford act. Here's the answer ... It's been almost a decade. What Lies Beneath with Michelle Pfeiffer. Here comes a play on words sure to annoy all ... Maybe it's an extraordinary measure to expect Ford to hit it big at the box office withouth the whip. We'll find out in January.
Here's the official news release ...
CBS Films announced Monday that due to an overwhelmingly positive response from test audiences, they are moving up the release date for 'Extraordinary Measures' from spring to January 22, 2010, making the film the studio's first release. The movie, starring Harrison Ford and Brendan Fraser, was the studio's first feature to go into production. Earlier this year, ET visited the set in Portland, Oregon. This moving drama is inspired by the true story of John Crowley (Fraser), a man who defied conventional wisdom and great odds, and risked his family's future to pursue a cure for his children's life threatening disease. He teams with Dr. Stonehill (Ford), a brilliant but unappreciated and unconventional scientist, who helps him find a cure. "This is an extraordinary story of a guy who went against all odds," Harrison told ET. "I thought it was a sort of opportunity to tell an uplifting kind of story about very courageous people." "What parent wouldn't do anything for their kids?" Fraser asked. "This is the crowning example of an individual who just would not take no for an answer. He was not a scientist by any means, but he found one who was a bit of a renegade for sure -- but brilliant. "This isn't going to be a sad story," added Keri Russell, who plays Fraser's wife in the film. "This is a story about people who are surviving this, and these are really extraordinary people." "The personal part of the Crowleys is an important part of the story," said Harrison of the film's real-life inspiration. "He's a remarkable guy, he's a remarkable intellect, he's a compassionate, wise fella -- and fun at a party." Following "Extraordinary Measures," CBS Films will release "The Back-up Plan," a romantic comedy starring Jennifer Lopez and Alex O'Loughlin, on March 12.
