Oscar-winner Paul Haggis has another project in the works at Lionsgate films. The Next Three Days is a thriller starring Russell Crowe and Elizabeth Banks. Olivia Wilde and Jonathan Tucker have just been signed in supporting roles according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Next Three Days revolves around a woman (Banks) who claims she was wrongly convicted of murder and her husband (Crowe) who tries to clear her name. Wilde will play a young woman who befriends Crowe and Tucker will play a meth-lab-running street thug.
Haggis, who has had success with projects like Crash and Letters From Iwo Jima will be a busy man. He is not only directing but is also involved in the writing and producing of the film.
If you're into recent French films this plot may sound familiar. It's actually a remake of the 2008 French thriller Pour Elle but it's a safe bet that U.S. audiences haven't seen and probably won't see the French version.
Shooting on the film begins in Pittsburgh, PA in about the next three days ... seriously.
