Hi.

This is Jeff Bayer, and I don't update this site very often. If you'd like to listen to my current movie podcast you can find it at MovieBS.com.

Big Momma's in the house for a third time

Remember all of those funny bones you broke while watching Big Momma's House 2? Prepare for more pain, as Fox has now hired a writer to make the glorious saga of an undercover cop who dresses up as an old woman a complete trilogy. Randi Mayem Singer, a co-scripter of Mrs. Doubtfire, has been assigned to pen the project. Information about the synopsis of the film is being kept secret.

Apparently, the Big Momma films were uh ... big business. Big Momma's House in 2000 grossed $174 million worldwide, while the second one from 2006 earned $138 million. Perhaps "Big Momma" Martin Lawrence will get a fat paycheck for round three?

David Friendly and New Regency will produce.

Here's my dream: somehow this becomes a Tyler Perry project. And with that, Perry turns it into a Madea project, but one that is strictly Madea - no dramatic subplots. Anyone who has seen even one of Madea's (or Mabel Simmons') films know she is a hard personality, and of course, a fond owner of her guns. She would be perfect for the kind of work that Big Momma does. But I know, this dream doesn't work with the Big Momma set-up, as the whole premise, (if you didn't already know), involves a man only pretending to be a woman.

Since this is far away from happening, I must say: Martin Lawrence, if you're reading this, you gotta do it. Don't let someone else take your legacy! "Hell to the no!" as Madea would say.
