Sylvester Stallone will kill again in fifth Rambo
Action fans rejoice - Rambo is back. Again! A fifth film to the John Rambo franchise has just been greenlit by production company Nu Image/Millennium. This announcement follows the success of 2008's Rambo, which earned $42 million in the states and $113 million overseas.
Sylvester Stallone is going to act and direct, just as he did for the previous film. There is no word as to whether he will have any part in the writing. Production to set to start in spring of 2010.
The new film is going to bring the action back to North America, with the violent hero "fighting his way through human traffickers and drug lords to rescue a young girl abducted near the U.S.-Mexico border." With this synopsis, it's possible that the film could be begin right where Rambo left off - at John's estate.
Avi Lerner, Kevin King Templeton and John Thompson will produce. Boaz Davidson, Trevor Short and Danny Dimbort will executive produce.
Stallone means business. Rambo was a violent as all sin wonder of death and destruction, and brought his already awesome American hero to a whole new level of seriousness. Now, he's finishing up The Expendables, a super-casted action film that is destined to blow up multiplexes and shower its audience with shells, blood, and a whole bunch of bad-assery. Rambo 5 (or whatever it is called), will not be a cherry on top of Stallone's current action greatness, it will be a whole different sundae. Hopefully, one of explosions.
