Nicolas Cage and Cameron Diaz in negotiations for Green Hornet

Columbia Pictures is in talks with both Nicolas Cage and Cameron Diaz for roles in The Green Hornet directed by Michael Gondry, reports Variety. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg wrote the script which features Rogen as the vigilante crime fighter. If negotiations are successful, Cage would play opposite Rogen as the gangster villain and Diaz would play the attractive reporter and love interest. Steven Chow had been cast to play the sidekick Kato but the studio is currently looking for a replacement.

The Green Hornet character was originally created for a radio show in the 1930s and went on to be featured in comic books and a television series (where Bruce Lee played Kato). The newest Rogen and Goldberg adaptation of The Green Hornet is tentatively scheduled to be released next summer. I'm ready to get stung.
