John Fusco to write Ninja Turtles relaunch
As the "Shell-ebration" of the 25th anniversary of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ends this week at Comic-Con in San Diego, Variety reports that producers Scott Mednick and Galen Walker have announced that John Fusco will be writing the latest live-action version of TMNT. Fusco has been practicing martial arts since age 12 and still studies kung-fu so he should have no problem dealing with the action elements of the film. Other martial arts scripts on his resume include The Forbidden Kingdom starring Jackie Chan and Jet Li as well as a remake of The Seven Samurai.
According to Fusco, "It's always exciting when you can come aboard a project that bridges the world of what you do and what you love."
Don't start coming out of your shell just yet, the relaunch is still in the early stages of planning and does not yet have a studio or director attached to the project. We'll have to wait until 2011 to get reacquainted with Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, Raphael and their wise master Splinter.
