Buffy the Vampire Slayer to return to big screen, Joss Whedon not yet involved
This may not be news about The Twilight Saga: New Moon but I do have some vampire news for all you bloodthirsty fans. If you enjoyed the 1992 film Buffy the Vampire Slayer get ready for a new installment. The Hollywood Reporter says that Vertigo Entertainment is working with the original movie director Fran Rubel Kuzui and her husband Kaz Kuzui (Kuzui Enterprises) on what they call a remake or relaunch of the film.
The news isn't all that surprising given the recent vampire hype driven by the Twilight series and the fact that the original Buffy film led to a successful TV series that eventually met its end in 2003. There's definitely an audience for this project. The surprising news that is that the creative mind behind Buffy, Joss Whedon, is not yet involved.
Kuzui and Vertigo are meeting with writers and have not ruled out Whedon's involvement, but haven't yet spoken with him. If they don't bring in Whedon, they will undoubtedly face some angry fans, which could take a bite out of revenue.
