Jean Claude Van Damme and Vinnie Jones kick it in Weapon
The Muscles from Brussels and that big, bald-head British dude are going to kick ass in a movie called "Weapon." Action stars Jean Claude Van Damme and Vinnie Jones are going to play "rival assassins who form an uneasy alliance," according to The Hollywood Reporter. They will be directed by Russell Mulcahy, who did the first two Highlander movies and just finished Give 'Em Hell, Malone.
In "Weapon," Jones will be a highly skilled sharpshooter. Van Damme will play a character skilled with a knife (which has me hoping there'll be a knife-in-toes fight, a la the immaculate Double Team). Backed by the DEA, they join forces to take down a drug cartel.
Considering the power behind this film, it is likely that it will be released to the big screen, which will be Van Damme's first in a decent amount of time (not counting the limited release, JCVD). However, as awesome as this news is, I read something that said Seagal was supposed to play Jones' role. Now that this is not the case, I weep with regret. A Seagal/Van Damme duo would be astronomically awesome, considering the two are action gods (and have also been fighting for shelf space on the straight to DVD racks at Blockbuster for year). Regardless, Jones has proven to be an undeniable butt kicker, and he should make for a good pairing against someone facing a bit of a "resurgence" like Van Damme. Hell yeah!
