Last chance to see Coraline in 3D in Portland

I loved Coraline, but I think the ONLY way to see it is 3D. Period. Here's Morrow McLaughlin's scorecard review giving it a 9/10, and now Living Room Theaters is giving you another chance to see the film on the big screen in Portland.

Living Room Theaters begins an engagement of Coraline in 3D beginning Friday, May 15. Living Room Theaters is the ONLY theater in the region using XpanD 3D systems. This system offers the brightest images with the most accurate digital color reproduction possible. Unlike "real 3D," which uses disposable, passive, polarized glasses. XpanD glasses have active LCD shutters that flip on and off many times a second alternating between eyes to create the most lifelike 3D illusion yet created for the cinema. These special glasses are manufactured in Beaverton.

Filmmakers from Laika will be in attendance at screenings on May 15 and 16. They'll bring with them puppets and props from the film and discuss the filmmaking process.

From Henry Selick, visionary director of The Nightmare Before Christmas, and based on Neil Gaiman's international best-selling book, comes a spectacular stop-motion animated adventure – the first to be originally filmed in 3D! Coraline Jones (Dakota Fanning) is bored in her new home until she finds a secret door and discovers an alternate version of her life on the other side. On the surface, this parallel reality is eerily similar to her real life and the people in it – only much better. But when this seemingly perfect world turns dangerous, and her other parents (including her Other Mother voiced by Teri Hatcher) try to trap her forever, Coraline must count on her resourcefulness, determination and bravery to escape this increasingly perilous world – and save her family.
