  • TRENT REZNOR AND ATTICUS ROSS WIN GOLDEN GLOBE FOR SCORING THE SOCIAL NETWORK

I'm so stoked these guys won.  I love what Reznor said about the music industry vs. the film industry: “I think that the impact of the film in our current society is much deeper than where music is currently. That doesn’t mean I don’t think music is very important but the music business has very much done everything it can to lessen the weight and importance of music as art because it’s commercialized it to the point it’s rewarded if it’s disposable and shallow, and just seeing the amount of attention we’ve gotten from our score as opposed to an album. It’s been an interesting thing to watch from afar."

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross combined their considerable sonic talents and, in the end, the result was nothing short of phenomenal. Everyone’s well aware that Reznor knows what he’s doing when it comes to sound, but I might add that Ross is the unsung hero here — his score for The Book of Eli (2010) is a mind-numbingly beautiful, somber dose of gritty ambience, which complements perfectly the underrated post-apoc masterpiece. I must have listened to that album, start to finish, close to a hundred times in 2010, and it never failed to move me. Ross is simply an expert with ambient tone, and he applied this expertise, again quite perfectly, to The Social Network. Had director David Fincher taken a different approach, sans Reznor/Ross, I believe this film would have only been about half as good.

  • COLIN FARRELL GETS HIS ASS TO MARS

A remake of the 1990 American sci-fi action film Total Recall has been announced. Len Wiseman, who directed the first two Underworld vampire films is set to direct the movie and he's revealed that he's approached Irish actor Colin Farrell to play the lead role, originally played by Arnold Schwarzenegger. The original Total Recall was a loose adaptation of sci-fi novelist Philip K. Dick's We Can Remember It For You Wholesale. It earned a $119m take at the box-office and was made on a budget of $50m. The remake will be shot in Toronto in March 2011 on a budget of $200m. It is expected to be screened in cinemas in 2012.

  • COULD 'NO STRINGS ATTACHED' BE NATALIE PORTMAN'S 'NORBIT?'

I think John Mitchell might be on to something here.

  • KEVIN RUBIO SPEAKS ON HIS 'STAR WARS' PARODY 'TROOPS'

There are so many of these Star Wars fan films out there, but I've always felt this one was far and away THE BEST:
