TSR Buzz: Michael Bay Directs 'The Social Network,' Kim Jong-Il Looks At Things, 'Air Bud': Criterion Collection
With TSR Buzz, you’ll find links to articles, videos and other random things that will help you waste your time just a little bit more.
- Sure, David Fincher might have done a fantastic job in bringing the Facebook story to the big screen, but how would other directors have handled it? This hilarious parody imagines how The Social Network would look if the Zuckerberg legacy were put into the hands of authorship-heavy directors like Wes Anderson, Michael Bay, Christopher Guest, Quentin Tarantino, Guillermo del Toro, and Frank Capra. The Wes Anderson spoof is especially perfect.
- In a world where frozen food products recklessly corrode the insides of their faithful customers, finally ... one man is brave enough to review them all. Greg is a regular guy with a nice kitchen, a big freezer and a microwave. He also has a deep passion for frozen foods, which is presented in his detailed video reviews that feature anything he can get his hands on from the frozen food aisle. Finding a good introductory video to his show "Freezerburns" was difficult, but this compilation of five worst endeavors might be a good start. (For the record, he gave the "Stuffed Cheese Pizza" Hot Pockets I ate last night a 4/5 rating).

- And now, a collection of photos featuring Kim Jong-il looking at things. As described by the website itself, "The dear leader likes to look at things ... updated every other day, and sometimes on the weekends too."
- Forget documentaries about babies or penguins. I want to see a full-length feature doc on semi-freakish dogs like Mishka, along with footage of scientists trying to explain how things like this happen. A possible kink in the evolution system, or just an adorable dog? I "ruhve" this pooch.

- On my free time, I enjoy playing classical guitar, and figuring out by ear the melody and chord structures of various pop songs. (I'm currently playing around with Clint Eastwood's scores). I have never dared to embark into Beach Boys territory, (especially "Pet Sounds"), as is done here with such a masterful touch by one of my favorite Youtubers, who is also a heavy inspiration. This is one of my favorite covers of his, "Don't Talk (Put Your Head On My Shoulder)." Troubleclef's channel offers a wide range of material, from film scores by Ennio Morricone to the Beatles to Julie London to Antonio Carlos Jobim etc.

- Because mashing Hollywood bombs with the sometimes pretentious aura of film prestige is always funny, a "Tumblr" like "Fake Criterions" exists. Kudos to the person who parodied the Hoop Dreams cover with another film about basketball that is almost as inspiring as that documentary - Air Bud.
