Immortals
The Stars: Henry Cavill, Mickey Rourke, John Hurt The Plot: Theseus is a mortal man chosen by Zeus to lead the fight against the ruthless King Hyperion, who is on a rampage across Greece to obtain a weapon that can destroy humanity. The Buzz: Not too terribly excited about this one, but it does look better than what promises to be Leonardo DiCaprio's first bad film since The Man in the Iron Mask. How is it that Clint Eastwood can suck so terribly as a director yet he's continually lavished with praise? It's Hollywood politics afoot, that's all. Eastwood is, IMO, the single most overrated director of all time. Flags of Our Fathers, Million Dollar Baby, Changeling, Blood Work -- seriously? I hated all four, like passionately. Four of the worst films ever made. So, yes, though I'm none too excited about Immortals (looks like the most blatant rip-off of 300 to date), it wins out easily over Eastwood's latest offering of boring-as-hell, pathetically paced, hyped-up political preachiness. Yaaaawn, Eastwood, yaaaawn. I just hope it doesn't send Leo off on a downward spiral, as he's been (happily) untouchable for many years now, riding the best successful streak of any Hollywood actor alive today. If Eastwood derails him, I'm sure it'll be temporary, but what a waste of time and talent. Hopefully I'll eat my words here, all around, but damn, I hate Eastwood films. Never been more cynical/skeptical.

Blu-ray/DVD of the Week
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 The Stars: Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint The Plot: Harry, Ron and Hermione search for Voldemort's remaining Horcruxes in their effort to destroy the Dark Lord. The Buzz: We’ve been following these spell-casters around now for just over a decade, and it’s hard to believe that their journey has come to a close. It was a lot of fun watching Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint grow up on the big screen. I’ve personally found these films to be more and more palatable over time, as these kids have moved on through the years, and consequently I've found each film in the series to be much more enjoyable than the last. This final installment continues that trend. All in all, it's a fairly epic conclusion, and a great watch. I'm stoked to see it again on Blu-ray.
