March Monthly Movie Preview: 'Adjustment Bureau' to 'Sucker Punch'

Monthly Movie Preview – March 2011 With the weak winter months finally behind us, hopefully this spells good things for the box office. While January and February offered the usual dreck, there's still some hope for March. Studios are beginning to step up their game and tackle the problem head on.

One of the things to look forward to in the month of March is a little variety. There's a little bit of something for everyone, young and old alike, ranging from sci-fi to thrillers. Check them out!

Movie of the Week

The Adjustment Bureau

The Stars: Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, John Slattery The Plot: A politician begins an affair with a young ballerina, but it seems that forces bigger than both of them are trying to keep them apart in this sci-fi thriller. The Buzz: It's been awhile since Matt Damon has had the right vehicle to showcase his action talent, but if all of the trailers of him running with Emily Blunt are any indication, Damon is back in fine form with this one. Emily Blunt's always been a big draw for me, so the movie's got that going for it, but the real reason behind my excitement for this flick? Roger Sterling, er, I mean, John Slattery. He'll always be Mad Men for me, but seeing him tackle a new role is always exciting. The solid cast is what sold me on this one.

The Others:

Rango - (voices of) Johnny Depp, Isla Fisher, Timothy Olyphant Take Me Home Tonight - Topher Grace, Anna Faris, Dan Fogler Beastly - Alex Pettyfer, Vanessa Hudgens, Mary-Kate Olsen

Movie of the Week

Battle: Los Angeles

The Stars: Aaron Eckhart, Michelle Rodriguez, Bridget Moynahan The Plot: Los Angeles is invaded by aliens and its up to the US army to fend off the invaders in this special-effects laden blockbuster. The Buzz: Does anybody really care about the plot? I mean, seriously? This is the type of big budget movie that was made for the big screen. I have to admit that I was a little skeptical at first, but it looks like it could be a fun time. It's been forever since something so epic has made its way to the movies, but this looks like just the type of popcorn movie that deserves a trip to the theaters, if just for a little harmless fun.

The Others:

Mars Needs Moms (in 3D) - (voices of) Seth Green, Joan Cusack, Dan Fogler Red Riding Hood - Amanda Seyfried, Gary Oldman, Lukas Haas

Movie of the Week

Paul

The Stars: Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Sigourney Weaver The Plot: Two geeks go on the run after finding and befriending an alien outside of Area 51. The Buzz: Simon Pegg and Nick Frost reunited on the big screen? Sign me up! The movie's already been getting a lot of attention. or maybe it just seems that way since I follow Simon Pegg on twitter... either way, it's always a good time when these two are involved. Throw in a handful of cameos and you've got yourself some fanboy fun. And after all, isn't that the best kind?

The Others:

Limitless - Bradley Cooper, Abbie Cornish, Anna Friel The Lincoln Lawyer - Matthew McConaughey, Marisa Tomei, Josh Lucas

March 25

Movie of the Week

Sucker Punch

The Stars: Emily Browning, Abbie Cornish, Vanessa Hudgens The Plot: A group of girls who are institutionalized in an insane asylum plot their escape using a world of fantasy and violence. The Buzz: Zack Snyder's always been the hit or miss type, but with the cast he's managed to assemble for this one, I have high hopes. The story reminds me of a darker Alice in Wonderland, so I can't help but get a little excited about this movie, especially with its outstanding cast. I mean, sure there's Vanessa Hudgens, if that's your thing, but Jon Hamm and Carla Gugino are the two names that sold me. Even if the movie itself is a disappointment, the visuals and frantic editing that have become Snyder's trademark are more than enough to keep me entertained.

The Others:

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules - Zachary Gordon, Devon Bostick, Robert Capron
