Chiwetel Ejiofor is in negotiations to join Angelina Jolie and Liev Schreiber in the upcoming spy thriller, Salt. The Columbia picture is being produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Sunil Purkash and will be directed by Phillip Noyce. Jolie is set to play Eveyln Salt, a CIA officer who is accused of being a Russian spy on a mission to assassinate the President. If Ejiofor lands the part he would play opposite Jolie as a CIA counterintelligence officer named Peabody. Schreiber will be in a supporting role as Salt's CIA boss and friend.

Salt will start shooting next month in New York and is scheduled to be released in 2010.

Dev Patel is not the only Slumdog Millionaire star continuing to find good fortune after the film's widespread success. Freida Pinto has recently been asked to join Woody Allen's new project due to start shooting this summer in London. In Pinto's first film since Slumdog, the young actress will have the opportunity to learn from some of the industry's seasoned veterans. As TSR reported earlier this month, Allen has already recruited Josh Brolin and Anthony Hopkins for his yet-to-be-named film. Naomi Watts, who will be fresh off the filming of Mother and Child, will also be joining the cast.

Fans are still in the dark regarding the plot and title of the upcoming film, but that's nothing new for Allen. This new film should not be confused with Allen's current project

The famous novel "Life of Pi" may finally live in movie theatres. Variety reports that Brokeback Mountain director Ang Lee is in talks with Fox 2000 to direct an adaptation of the book. The novel, (for those of you who didn't have to read it in high school), is about a lone survivor of a freighter that has sunk. He shares a lifeboat with a hyena, an injured zebra, a Bengal tiger, and a hyena.

Gil Netter of Marley and Me is set to produce.

Before Lee, the project had seen many faces. At one time, M. Night Shyamalan was in talks to do the film. Then, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, director of Amelie, had worked on an idea for the project with collaborator Guillaume Laurent.

Ang Lee will supervise a new version of the script

Robert Rodriguez is aiming to pair up with Dimension Studios for a futuristic thriller called Nerverackers. Clearly this will rank right up there with difficult/odd-looking/misprounced titles. Yes Changeling, I'm thinking of you.

The director of such films as El Mariachi and Spy Kids is set to write and direct the project, which already has a release date - April 16, 2010. So it looks like he'll have to lock himself in his elaborate Austin studios right away.

The story is about a man named Joe Tezca, who works with an elite unit to stop a wave of crime taking place in a theoretically perfect society of the future.

Dark Knight writer-director Christopher Nolan is taking a vacation from Gotham City with a new project aiming to be released in summer 2010. His next film is called Inception. The project is an original screenplay by Nolan, which is described as "a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind." Sounds incredibly mysterious, but equally wonderful.

Nolan will produce with partner Emma Thomas, whom he worked with on Dark Knight.

Says Warner Brothers Pictures Group president Jeff Robinov: "Chris Nolan is a visionary filmmaker who continually raises the bar with each movie he makes. We are thrilled to be collaborating again with him and Emma on this exciting new motion picture."

Using a rough estimate, Nolan has brought the studio about $1.5 billion in theatre revenue. Two-thirds of that comes from The
