‘Janie Jones’ starring Abigail Breslin and Alessandro Nivola – trailer review
Janie Jones
Directed by: David M. Rosenthal
Starring: Abigail Breslin, Alessandro Nivola, Elisabeth Shue
Rating: Unrated
Release Date: unknown
TRAILER SCORE: 5/10
Thoughts by TSR: This is not a Junie B. Jones movie (a children’s book character who I thought this would be about). Nor is this film Somewhere, Sophia Coppola’s most recent film which covered another rockstar/estranged daughter situation. It’s another story of a rockstar (Nivola) who is thrown together with the daughter he didn’t know he had (of course) but learns to love her because she writes music. I got that from the trailer, which seemed to tell the whole story of the film. Shue plays another Leaving Las Vegas-type put upon female who leaves her daughter with her shiftless father because she’s having some sort of break down. Breslin seems very self-possessed, but the rest of the film looks like a kind of by-the-numbers father learns to love daughter story. It just doesn’t look that interesting.

If you’re going to rate films I suggest you actually SEE them, rather than rely on plot summaries and trailers to make your assessments!!!
The excellent acting in this film makes it very worth seeing.
Dear Virgina –
You read a trailer review. Wake up. Our film reviews are clearly different.
I agree with Virginia. You really have to see this movie before you can judge it. The trailer obviously doesn’t do it justice. It’s better than a lot of those other struggling musician become famous movies. It’ actually not about that at all. Leave judging movies to people who as actually seen them.
