'Green Lantern' starring Ryan Reynolds - trailer review

Green Lantern Directed by: Martin Campbell Starring: Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard Rating: PG-13 Release Date: June 17, 2011

TRAILER SCORE: 7/10

Thoughts by TSR: I'll admit, I was one of those people who saw the first trailer and the terrible CGI and immediately called foul play. But after checking out this trailer, I'm willing to admit that I might be wrong. Well, about some things at least.

The CGI still looks terrible and Ryan Reynolds will forever be the bane of my existence for taking this role, but those are things I'll just have to learn to live with. More importantly, those are things that this trailer takes into account. It actually seems like it might have been re-cut to sway the minds of the nay-sayers.

This trailer certainly tries to make use of its big-budget, but it actually pieces things together too. This one has an actual story. I was pleasantly surprised that we get to some of the film's villain this time around rather than using the trailer to show off the fact that Reynolds has an impressive physique.

Fans of Reynolds will appreciate the screen time he gets in this trailer still, while those of us who are not exactly fans don't have to put up with his sarcastic wise-cracking for two and a half minutes. Blake Lively doesn't make much of an appearance, but I feel like that might be the case in the movie as well. Even as a love interest, she's a bit of a sideline character. Still, the oddball supporting cast (Gotta love some Kilowog) gets their fair share of screen time in a pleasant change of pace. In the end, it might just be because I hated the first trailer so much, but this one doesn't look half bad.
