'Bad Teacher' starring Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake - trailer review

Bad Teacher Directed by: Jake Kasdan Starring: Cameron Diaz, Justin Timberlake, Jason Segel, Lucy Punch Rating: R Release Date: June 24, 2011

TRAILER SCORE: 5/10

(this trailer is so new they still haven't finalized the music or graphics, so you'll have to attempt to use your imaginations for that)

MY THOUGHTS: This trailer is a bit confusing, and not in a "Wait, Cameron Diaz is funny?" kind of way. Instead, it's more like I'm not sure what Bad Teacher is mainly going to be about. Will it mostly be about Diaz trying to woo Justin Timberlake's character, who barely has on-screen time? Or will it be more about this "bad teacher" rejecting the gym teacher played by Jason Segel? There's also something about breast implants in here, along with some sort of weird teacher competition. It looks wacky for wack's sake, but it's from two writers of "The Office" - some trust in order, I believe.

And though Justin Timberlake is Justin Timberlake, he hardly appears in this trailer. Instead, this first look into the movie seems to give the most "romantic" attention to that of Diaz and Segel, which is bound to have dirty humor just like Segel's "Hold my [soccer] balls." It's amusing that Segel's character argues with a kid that Michael Jordan is better than LeBron James, but let's hope his whipsnapping humor has more to it than that.

Maybe Bad Teacher will be throwing all of this and more at the audience when it arrives in June, but hopefully it will be worth it. Something tells me a red-band trailer will be the most helpful in indicating whether this one is going to be promising or not, considering the couple of allusions made in the trailer to adult humor. The best jokes are probably waiting for us there, or even better, they're holding off until we get to see the full feature.
