MOVIE:

I was thrilled when The Muppets came out two years ago, and that a sequel was announced for 2014. So far, it's the right spirit, and that spirit has never been on better display than with the 1979 film The Muppet Movie. For adults, here are a few stars who made cameos ... Milton Berle, James Coburn, Dom DeLuise, Bob Hope, Madeline Kahn, Steve Martin, Richard Pryor, and Orson Welles. For children you have the Muppets doing Muppet things. That's enough. For everyone, you have the music. This is the film that gave us "Rainbow Connection," "Movin' Right Along," and "I Hope That Somethin' Better Comes Along."

Now that I have a son, I am constantly thinking in terms of when he will watch something. I've already decided this will be his first live-action film. I haven't figured out his first animated film yet. Luckily, he's only 9 months old, so I have some time.

While the extras aren't ground-breaking, the film is really all that matters. Plus, Disney Intermission (hitting pause and having interactive games) is a nice addition.

MOVIE SCORE: 10/10
