Bryce Dallas Howard to replace Rachelle Lefevre for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse
Because of scheduling conflicts, Rachelle Lefevre will not be able to return as character Victoria in the third Twilight film, Eclipse. Lefevre appears as Victoria in the upcoming The Twilight Saga: New Moon.
Instead, she will be replaced by Lady in the Water and Terminator Salvation thespian Bryce Dallas Howard.
“We are incredibly happy that Bryce has agreed to come into the franchise,” said Summit Entertainment’s president of worldwide production and acquisitions, Erik Feig. “Rachelle brought Victoria to great screen life and Bryce will bring a new dimension to the character. The franchise is lucky to have such a talented actress as Bryce coming in to fill the role.”
The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is set to start shooting next month, with a release date of June 30, 2010.
What do you think, Twilight fans? Is Howard going to be a good fit? Is Lefevre an irreplaceable presence? Are any of you as curious as I am to see the Hard Candy director David Slade handle a Twilight movie?
Update: Apparently Lefevre’s work on the Dustin Hoffman/Paul Giamatti film “Barney’s Version” caused the “scheduling conflict.” However, E! News is reporting that the commitment was only going to be 10 days.
In a statement to the website, she said that she was “stunned” by the recasting, and that she had “full commitment” to play the role of Victoria. Ouch! Could Summit Entertainment really be that picky, or is there some other agenda going on? But apparently it’s not as clean-cut as we all thought. My heart goes out to Lefevre though – losing a part in Twilight just sucks. But being in a movie with Dustin Hoffman and Paul Giamatti – well, this could be a blessing in disguise for her acting career.
I wonder if Summit Entertainment would have ever threatened to replace Robert Pattinson if he tried to make one of his indie movies not on Twilight’s schedule?

I liked Rachelle as Victoria, but with Bryce I have seen more range so I believe she will make a convincing character replacement

This is ridiculous. She was completely shocked that they would replace her. I will literally boycott the movie if they replace her over a 10 day scheduling conflict. I am exremely disappointed in Summit Entertainmet, and have no interest in watching movies from a company who cares so little about the stars who made them what they are.

OMG! You’ve gotta be sh*tting me! I am not only disappointed, but actually feel angry about this replacement. I agree with Danielle and already feel no interest any longer. I HATE when they replace a character, I’d rather they rewrite a death or something than have a totally new person pick up a character that is already established, UGHHHHH! The series will probably still make money, but they can count mine out. With the HPs I still never got over the new Dumbledore and that was a sad reason to replace because of Harris’ death, but to chg because of 10 days of schedule conflict? Bugger them!!!

It’s unfair to drop-out Rachelle and replace with Bryce Dallas.Sure Eclipse will be not exciting story to be tell coz’ of Victoria is a different person. We need to start a petition to ensure that the role of Victoria is played with Rachelle! You can’t change her after she has filmed the first 2 movies!! I love this series but Summit Entertainment needs to get rid of Bryce and reinstate Rachelle!!! Rachelle is Victoria – FINAL! I’m going to email Summit Entertainment and let them know how me and my friends feel…I encourage everyone to do the same! Hurry though…filming for the next movie is in 1 month so we don’t have a lot of time to get this changed!

I think this is such rubbish! How can they replace such a gorgeously good actor?! I am so mad right now. Bryce Howard won’t be able to stand up to Rachelle’s standards. She’s not as pretty and probably not as good an actor. I have decided to see the next movie with Bryce and then decide wheather or not I will boycott the series.
Blah Blah Bryce is a good actress too, people who say they won’t watch are already hooked on Twilight (as myself) and will watch regardless who plays Victoria

I love twilight, the replacing of an actress isnt a good idea because the role has already been influenced and interpreted by the actress herself as well as the public. ofcourse i will keep watching the movies and probably love them the same as the books but the movie wont hav the same impact because the public wont be able to fully accept Bryce as the new victoria.. good luck to her but it wont be the same..
