Harry Potter already giving Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen a run for its money

According to ticket site Fandango.com, advance tickets for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince are outselling the ones for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. The new Harry Potter film, which is going to be released on July 15, already makes up for 65% percent of Fandango's daily sales, similar to how Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix did back in 2007. Tickets for The Half-Blood Prince went on sale June 17.

"The Half-Blood Prince is turning out to be one of our fastest-selling titles of the year," said Fandango COO Rick Butler.

A poll taken by Fandango found out that out of 3,000 visitors to their site, 85% of them had read all seven Harry Potter books.

For those keeping score, the release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is still a week away. Maybe by next Wednesday, those who have interest in getting advanced tickets will all have them, causing this boost will run dry. Either way, it's unlikely that Harry Potter will ultimately top the Unicron of a motion picture, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. But maybe with the assistance of Bruno, Harry Potter will be able to dethrone Transformers from its home base at top of the box office.
