Where’s Waldo? … Coming to a big screen near you
Variety reports that Universal and Illumination Entertainment have out bid several other studios to obtain the film rights to the popular Where’s Waldo? book series.
The Where’s Waldo? books, written and illustrated by Martin Handford have sold over 50 million copies worldwide. For those that don’t remember, the books contain full page illustrations featuring large crowds of people with the main character hidden somewhere among them. The “reader’s” mission is to find Waldo and various other items on the page. If I remember correctly finding Waldo is fun and immensely frustrating at times.
The plan is to adapt a family-oriented, live-action picture based on the Waldo character. I’m not exactly sure where they will go with the story, did the books have a story? Maybe it’s just me, but I only remember searching the illustrations to find that red and white striped shirt.
We’ll bring you more news on Where’s Waldo? as soon as we find it.
